Bev
Pegg & His Band
![]() Rock, Blues, Jazz, Strict Tempo, Humour The Band That Entertains. The Bev Pegg Band in it's current format has been entertaining audiences since 1978. However several of it's members were performing together way back in the late 1950's at the dawn of the Rock and Roll era. This band is ideal for Parties, Village Hall, Dinner Dances and corporate functions. Their repertoire is exceptionally wide, comprising of over 500 songs. They can play smooth gentle background standards in the most relaxed manner and also strict tempo music for dancers. And when the time is right, they can play a range of 50's, 60's and 70's pop creating the authentic sound of that era. Most of their programme contains vocals. They can be formal if that is required, and also they can provide loads of laughs with an audience who may wish to be entertained during the function. The band's dress code is always in line with the type of engagement it is hired for. The band also specialise in classic Rock 'n' Roll for enthusiast R&R clubs. Jivers love the pounding 4 to a bar beat that The Bev Pegg Band put out at these gigs..."Great to dance to", is the usual reference that follows their R&R evenings. Bev has been rockin' an' rollin' all around the Midlands since the late 1950s. He started off playing lead guitar with the Rhythmaires. In the early 1960s, Bev moved to the jazz scene. He gigged with most of the top local bands in the area and appeared on many radio and tv programmes. During the late 1960s and early 1970s, Bev was into the more contemporary folk / rock style that was in vogue at the time. It was in this period that, from his recording studio in Kinver, he put out several limited release albums, containing a selection of the several hundred songs that he has written over the years. A glance through the "Record Collector Rare Record Guide" would give some idea of how sought after these albums are today. Bev has played with and alongside many of the famous names of pop and jazz during his career. Drummer Ken Wright has played alongside Bev since the early 1960s. He was a member of the Clifford T. Ward Band during the 1960s and 1970s. Ken has done a lot of recording session work during his "London Years" with many world famous stars. Harry Rowlands who plays bass, is one of Bev's lifetime buddies. He hails from Stourbridge and has played alongside Bev from the late 1950s onwards. Piano-man Brian Godwin played with many local groups during the 1960s and early 1970s. He plays guitar and drums besides piano. Following a self-imposed break of a few years due to business pressures, Brian allowed himself to be dragged back on stage again, joining Bev's band in 1992. Saxophonist Cliff Williams has been in the band since the late 1980s. He has been a top professional musician for many years playing for a wide variety of stars such as Roy Wood's Wizzard, Englebert Humperdink, Johnny Kidd and the Pirates to name but a few. Cliff has appeared on countless recordings over the years. For Bev's higher profile gigs, the band is augmented by the sax playing of the legendary Dutch Lewis, vocalist Kate Pegg, guitarist Terry Clarke plus many of the top musicians in the UK. Contact
